Goals

Problem: Tennessee has a problem with childhood obesity. You and your teammates will research ideas to help address this problem. What are some of the underlying causes? You will develop and write a taking care of your body booklet with the vital information those parents and students need to know to help reduce childhood obesity.
Technology Standard: Demonstrate the ability to navigate in virtual environments such as electronic books, simulation software, and websites.

Content Standard: The student will demonstrate the ability to implement decision making and goal setting skills to promote his/her personal health and wellness, thereby enhancing quality of life for himself/herself and those around him/her. The student will understand the relationship of physical activity and rest to healthy living.

Prerequisite Skills: Students will need to know what food is, what good and bad mean. Students must know how to use the computer. They must understand the certain computer terms: search, internet, google etc.
Objectives, Outcomes, or Framing Question: What should you eat and do to have a healthy body? Students will create a taking care of your body booklet. Students will use the internet to find proper foods and other healthy choices for their booklet. Students will describe how getting the recommended eight to ten hours of sleep daily contributes to healthy living; list various types of physically active leisure time activities (e.g. walking, swimming, golfing, tennis, dancing, hiking, climbing, and biking).
